StorageSync is a software you can install to provide easy auto backup and synchronization of your files and folders. You can download it after logging into the Web User Interface by pressing BACKUP on the top menu.

What are the system requirements of StorageSync?
PC compatibles, running Windows 98, Me, XP, 2000, NT.  At least 300Mhz CPU clock speed, 128MB RAM, and 20MB of free diskspace.

How do I install StorageSync client?
Click on the BACKUP button on the top menu of the Web User Interface of tmnet Storage Service, then download the software and run it.

Where and how do I start on backing up my files with StorageSync?
The best way to start using StorageSync to backup your files is to watch this flash tutorial: http://storage.netmyne.com/help/storagesync.swf

How often can I backup my files?
You can set the StorageSync to back up your files as frequent as daily. Alternatively, you can also perform backup weekly, monthly or just do it manually.

What are ‘Local to Remote’, 'Remote to Local’, and ‘Bi-direction’?
These are the options on how you can back up and synchronize your files and data.

‘Local to Remote’ basically saves a copy of the file from your local hard disk to the remote storage site, and keeps the copy on the remote storage synchronized according to the your time setting.

Likewise, ‘Remote to Local’ saves a copy of the file from your remote storage site to your local hard disk, and keeps the copy on the local hard disk synchronized according to your time setting.

‘Bi-direction’ allows both local and remote sites to be synchronized where there are changes on either site.

If I want to delete a file, do I need to delete on both the local and remote storage?
"Delete in destination if not in source" option in StorageSync means it will automatically delete a destination file if that file is not in the source storage. e.g. if source is local disk, and destination is remote storage, and if a local somefile.doc is deleted, a remote somefile.doc, if any, will also be deleted by storagesync automatically when sync take place.

Similarly if source is remote storage and destination is local disk, deletion will be automatic on the local disk.

Since auto deletion should be used with care, the option is off by default.

This option is NOT applicable in bidirectional sync mode.

I have Unicode filenames. Can StorageSync recognize them?
Currently, StorageSync is unable to recognize the Unicode filenames on Windows system. One way to get around this is to replace the filename with an English one.

Why am I receiving log file from StorageSync?
That is because StorageSync wants to keep you updated with all the synchronization, in case if there is any error you should be aware of. Of course, if you do not wish to receive the log files email, you can always turn it off. However, we strongly recommend you to check your log frequently on StorageSync.

Security
How secure is web-based access in the tmnet Storage Services?
The login process is SSL protected by default which prevents third party from intercepting and viewing your username and password.

How secure is the StorageSync backup client?
StorageSync is written in-house with customer's concern top priority.  No third- party is involved in its development and so it is free from viruses, adware or spyware.  StorageSync also comes with SSL options for login and files transfer.

How secure are the files backed-up by StorageSync?
StorageSync is capable of transfering files and login infomation in SSL mode, thus preventing information being intercepted during transport.

StorageSync is capable of encrypting files it transfers to the server.  Encryption is done on the client computer first before transfer is initiated. StorageSync also conveniently decrypts the encrypted files on the client computer, when you transfer them down later.

A password is supplied during encryption and only the same password can decrypt the files again. The encryption algorithm used is CAST5 using 128-bit key length.  This is the default algorithm use in the GPG, a cryptographic software tool compatible with PGP.

How secure are the servers?
Multiple servers with firewall are located in TMnet's highly secured datacenter. Data is redundantly backed up between servers on a daily basis.

Security updates and patches are applied immediately to all software running on the servers to maintain maximum protection from hacking activities.

I have personal firewall installed. Will I encounter problems using StorageSync?
As long as the personal firewall is set to allow traffic to go through port 80 (and 443 if SSL option selected), StorageSync will work fine.
